Soon the 2019 schedule for the Nebraska Math and Science Summer Institutes (NMSSI) will be released on the NMSSI website. Courses are posted online in MyRED starting Feb. 18, but registration will not open until March 4. Here is a sneak peek at the courses and dates:

Lincoln:
Math 807T: Using Math to Understand our World, June 10-14 (Class # 3257), for middle and high school teachers
Math 896: Complex Valued Functions and Calculus for Teachers, June 17-21 (Class # 9148), for high school teachers
Math 805T: Discrete Mathematics, July 15-19 (Class # 6884), for middle and high school teachers

We also hope to be able to offer a secondary mathematics pedagogy course from the Department of Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education (TLTE).

Omaha area:
Math 807T: Using Math to Understand our World, June 24-28 (Class # 6885), Gretna, for middle and high school teachers
Math 806T: Number Theory & Cryptology, July 8-12 (Class # 3246), Omaha, for middle and high school teachers
Math 803P: Algebraic Thinking for the Elementary Classroom, July 8-12 (Class # 3204), Omaha, for elementary teachers
TEAC 890: Responsive Instruction in the Mathematics Classroom , July 15-19 (Class # 9101), Omaha, for elementary teachers

Central:
Math 812T: Geometry for Geometry Teachers, June 10-14 (Class # 6886), Kearney, for high school teachers
Math 896: Elementary-Integrated STEM, June 10-14 (Class # 8042), Hastings, for elementary teachers
Math 896: Secondary-Integrated STEM, June 19-21 and 24-25 (Class # 8043), Grand Island, for middle and high school teachers

Western:
Plans are in place to start a cohort of Primarily Math in North Platte. Grades K-3 teachers will first need to apply and be accepted to the K-3 Math Specialist Certificate program in TLTE.

Math 801P: Geometry, Measurement & Algebraic Thinking for K-3 Math Specialists, June 10-14

Online (dates TBD):
Math 808T: Concepts of Calculus (Class # 3231), for middle and high school teachers
STAT 812T: Statistics for High School Teachers (Class # 2193)

Science courses can count as electives to the Master of Arts for Teachers degree.
