The Adapt, Implement, and Research at Nebraska (AIR@NE) project examines the adaptation of an established K-8 Computer Science (CS) curriculum in diverse school districts statewide. The Research-Practitioner Partnership is primarily between UNL, the Lincoln Public Schools, and other diverse school districts across NE. The 4-year project is scheduled to provide professional development and support three cohorts of K-8 teachers for teaching computer science (CS), establish a community of practice of such teachers in Nebraska, and investigate the impacts of the professional development program on teachers and their students. This talk will describe the project, including the program design; the cohorts, including recruitment, resources made available to them, and expectations; the preliminary research findings, including impacts on teacher and student CS practice, self-efficacy, and interest, as well as teacher CS knowledge.
