Invitation to participate in a UNL study about data-informed decision-making
Dear DBER faculty and graduate students,

We (Drs. Amy Bennett, Wendy Smith, and Rachel Funk) are working on a study funded by a College of Arts and Sciences Strategic Priorities grant. Our project focuses on developing a framework for an individual’s knowledge, beliefs, and skills regarding institutional data for equitable change efforts. We are planning to conduct a modified Delphi Method study with UNL experts to get a better understanding of definitions related to equity and data-informed decision-making. We are inviting you to participate in our study.

Participation in our study involves answering a set of questions related to equity, institutional change efforts, and data-informed decision making. Answering these questions should take no longer than 1-1.5 hours, depending on the modality which you choose to answer them. Your responses will be recorded in writing or audio-recorded (again, your choice). A few weeks after you answer these questions, we will send back to you a de-identified synthesis of responses across all participants which you will read and comment on. This should take no longer than 1-1.5 hours, depending on how you choose to respond.

Our goal is to use the knowledge generated from the Delphi study to create a survey instrument to use with many university members across institutions. We hope our analysis of survey results will contribute to research about supporting people in higher education to make equity-oriented decisions based on institutional data. We hope to draw on the learning analytics dashboard that Chad Brassil created and shared via Tableau, and in this way, bring more awareness to the UNL community about how to engage with and interpret these data.

The consent form, found at https://unlcorexmuw.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_b7cOzs6oxfkwXwG , provides more details. Once you have completed the consent form, we will send you the questions.
(Please note that, as this is an internal grant, faculty cannot be compensated; however, we are able to compensate graduate students in the form of food.)

Please let us know if you would like to participate by April 28th. To do so, complete the consent form and/or contact Amy Bennett at abennett14@unl.edu. Thank you for your consideration, and please let me know if you have any questions.

Best regards,
Amy Bennett
