Requirements:
• Must be enrolled fulltime as an undergraduate student (NASA requirement)
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 throughout academic year 2011-2012. Freshmen should report their cumulative GPA and class rank of their Senior year of High School. (College of Engineering requirement)
• US Citizen (NASA requirement)
• Must be 18 years of age prior to arrival in Houston (NASA requirement)
Participation varies by student status:
• Freshmen – primary responsibility is publicity and outreach. Will shadow upperclassmen in lab as class schedule allows. Freshmen do not travel to Houston.
• Sophomores – some assistance with publicity and outreach. Completion of small-scale projects under direction of upperclassmen as class schedule allows. Travel to Houston will be evaluated on an individual basis.
• Juniors – Assist with drafting of proposal and lab projects as directed by Seniors and Team Leader. Time commitment will be significant during the Spring semester. Travel to Houston will be evaluated on an individual basis.
• Seniors – Team Leaders. Responsible for all facets of the program, under the direction of Faculty Supervisor and NASA mentor. Time commitment will be significant during the Spring semester. Seniors graduating in December 2011 are eligible to participate and travel to Houston if the team is selected.
• All team members must attend regularly scheduled team meetings.
College of Engineering preference for Flight Crew goes to Seniors. Juniors and Sophomores are considered Alternate Flyers. Freshmen and Alternate Flyers are Ground Crew.
