The Child, Youth, and Family Studies department (CYAF) in the College of Education and Human Sciences (CEHS) offers a major in Human Development and Family Science (HDFS). Graduates of the HDFS program are working in a variety of areas such as state agencies and non-profits. Some students use the HDFS program to prepare for a graduate degree program in counseling, social work, occupational therapy, and many other areas. Students in HDFS will take course work about family theory science focusing on development across the lifespan, stress, addiction, policy, global awareness, and more! Besides preparing for your future career or graduate degree, CYAF-HDFS students have "hands-on" opportunities. All students in this program will complete an internship for credit as an upper-class student. To learn more about the internship or past internship sites, visit https://cehs.unl.edu/cyaf/497d-resources-0/. If you hope to stretch your learning out of the classroom, consider education abroad opportunities led by CYAF faculty. CYAF faculty regularly travel with students to Brazil, India, and China. Learn more about our future programs abroad, visit https://cehs.unl.edu/global/.
