The Association for Women in Science presents "Cultivating an Inclusive Environment: Recognizing and Responding to Implicit Bias," a workshop with Dr. Leo Taylor, Program Director in the Office of Equity and Inclusion and a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Entomology at Ohio State University.

The workshop is Sept. 12, from 2 - 4 p.m. in the Nebraska Union Platte River Room.

Taylor is passionate about equity and inclusion in academia, particularly issues facing women and LGBTQ individuals, people living with HIV, and those struggling with the stigma associated with mental illness. His work with the transgender community includes founding and facilitating several peer‐led support groups, serving as an advisor to the Cornell administration in their efforts to improve the experience of transgender students, and contributing to the development of the transgender health care program at the Cornell Health Center. He founded and facilitates a mental health support group for graduate students in Columbus, which he established in 2018.

This event is open to faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students. Contact awis@unl.edu for more information. Learn more about AWIS on its webpage and check out upcoming events on its calendar.
