Dr. Victoria Kennel and Dr. Bethany Lowndes, Assistant Professors at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, are seeking a part-time graduate student research assistant with qualitative research experience to join a multi-institutional interdisciplinary team studying the experience of teamwork when telehealth is used in patient care.
Project Overview
The goals of this qualitative research project are to identify and describe healthcare professionals, staff, patients, and caregivers’ experiences of teamwork when telehealth is used for patient appointments, and to understand their needs for teamwork and other training to work together more effectively when telehealth is used for patient appointments. This research study is funded by the Great Plains IDeA-CTR.
Research Assistant Job Responsibilities and Details
- Participate in an interdisciplinary research team conducting a qualitative research study to explore teamwork in telehealth
- Complete ‘content’ training for the project — will review literature/learn about teamwork concepts and telehealth basics
- Assist with recruitment of subjects to participate in the research
- Conduct interviews with healthcare professionals, staff, patients, and/or caregivers
- Compare interview transcripts with interview recordings, and compare/update to ensure transcript accuracy
- Perform qualitative data coding and analysis in iterative cycles, drawing on established methodology
- Participate in research team meetings (conducted virtually); manage and respond to project related email
- Support creation of presentations and publications
- Support generation of content to include in required project reports for funding agency
We are looking for an individual with prior experience working on qualitative research projects, with knowledge of qualitative methods with prior experience conducting a pilot project with actual data collection. This individual will have experience with coding qualitative interview data using MAXQDA and/or NVivo system for coding qualitative data. CITI training is required. Individuals who are well-organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, proactive and will take initiative, demonstrate professional communication, are reliable and dependable, and demonstrate strong analytic, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills are strongly encouraged to apply.
