
Phi Tau Sigma (UNL) invites you to the Battle of Food Scientists on Thursday, March 12, 2026 (4:00–8:00 PM) at the Food Innovation Center. This is a fun, beginner-friendly culinary competition open to undergraduate and graduate students (any major) and the public. You can sign up as a team of 2–4, or register individually and we’ll help match you with a team.
This year’s theme is “Fermented Fiesta.” Teams will complete two rounds: a Mystery Basket Plant-Based Muffin challenge (with a surprise ingredient and optional AI-assisted brainstorming) and a Fermented Flavor Challenge, where you’ll create a dish featuring a fermented ingredient. All core ingredients will be provided.
A panel of UNL faculty and industry professionals will judge entries based on creativity, taste, and presentation, and top teams will win awards. Come compete, try something new, and have a great time—no advanced experience needed!
