Graduate Report

To Students, Staff and Faculty:

Welcome back to campus! And thanks to everyone for joining the Office of Graduate Studies last week during our annual Graduate Student welcome events.

The Orientation and the Grad Fair were major successes, with nearly 1,000 graduate students participating in preparation for the fall semester and collecting resources from our supportive community representatives.

As we settle into this new semester, I want to mention several new graduate education initiatives focused on enhancing the experience for future and current graduate students at Nebraska.

* A new intuitive, customizable graduate application for admission scheduled to go live for Fall 2019

* A comprehensive program (CIRTL@Nebraska Certification), open to graduate students and faculty, aimed at enhancing undergraduate education through future faculty members who prioritize effective teaching for diverse learners

* A reimagined, student-focused series of weekly workshops dedicated to developing graduate students for both academic and non-academic careers

* A cross-campus collaboration with UNMC and UNO to provide Graduate Student Career & Professional Development Events

* New giveaway items for faculty outreach and graduate student recruitment events such as Nebraska-branded reusable water bottles, reusable bags, Fidget Cubes, and more

Most importantly this semester, we’ve opened our doors even wider to graduate students who are an integral part of our Research I, land-grant university. To better support your graduate student experience, we encourage you to reach out to faculty and staff as your semester unfolds.

We look forward to seeing you in the Office of Graduate Studies and around campus.

Dr. Timothy Carr
Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of Graduate Education
