Post-doctoral Research Fellowship in Geospacial Data Science

Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service, is seeking applicants for a Post-doctoral Research Fellowship in Geospatial Data Science in the Department of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences, starting in January 1, 2019.

Description: Remote Sensing Lab at Saint Louis University seeks a postdoctoral research fellow with expertise in geospatial Big Data, remote sensing, machine learning, and/or GIS and career goals connect to themes broadly defined as agriculture and water nexus (global food security, precision agriculture, yield prediction, and water/nutrient use efficiency). The position is anticipated to be a year appointment, can be extended to second year depending on funding availability. The fellow is expected to have a strong desire and ability for publication and funded research proposal submission. The fellow will work with Dr. Vasit Sagan on a collaborative research project with faculty from Harris-Stowe State University. Responsibilities include working with faculty and students to conduct applied geospatial research, submit at least one major research proposal, and publish research results.

Qualifications: Successful candidates are expected to have completed a Ph.D. by May 2018. A Ph.D. in Geography, Data Science, environmental sciences, agronomy with remote sensing background or related discipline is required. The successful candidate is expected to have a record of scholarly research and publications. Documented experience in open source programming (e.g., Python), peer-reviewed journal publications and proposal writing experiences is highly desirable.
