25 4-H clubs receive governor's awards

Twenty-five 4-H Clubs won the 2011 Governor's Agricultural Excellence Awards on June 25.

Each club received $500 to fund its project.

The Governor's Agriculture Excellence Award is designed to recognize accomplishments of the members of a 4-H Club based on their community service projects, service learning and their collective individual accomplishments in ag-related project areas.

The clubs were:

– Best Foot Forward 4-H Club, Gage County
– Blue River Archers, Seward County
– Bow Creek 4-H Club, Cedar County
– Canyon Run 4-H Club, Lincoln County
– Country Classics 4-H Club, Wayne County
– Dad's Helpers 4-H Club, Dixon County
– Fabulous 4-H'ers Club, Grant County
– Fantastic Four 4-H Club, Lancaster County
– 4-star Hamilton Heroes 4-H Club, Hamilton County
– Horseshoe Bend 4-H Club, Dawson County
– Joe's Clover Knights, Lancaster County
– Nance County Junior Leaders, Nance County
– Next Generation 4-H Club, Cedar County
– Northridge Farms 4-H Club, Douglas and Sarpy counties
– Pilot-a-Pig 4-H Club, Lancaster County
– Pony Express 4-H Club, Dawson County
– Sandhills Saddles and Spurs 4-H Club, Grant County
– Sandhills Wranglers 4-H Club, Holt County
– Sheridan County Jr. Leaders, Sheridan County
– Sugar Cookies 4-H Club, Lincoln County
– Tail Twisters 4-H Club, Greeley County
– T.E.A.M. 4-H Club, Dodge County
– Thunderbolts and Lightning 4-H Club, Garfield County
– Westerners 4-H Club, Nance County

The awards, sponsored by the Nebraska Investment Finance Authority (NIFA), were created to help motivate and support youth as they learn more about agriculture and consider careers in farming or ranching.

Since 1997, NIFA has worked to encourage agricultural endeavors in Nebraska by supporting youth activities through 4-H. NIFA has provided more than $174,000 to the 4-H program in the past 15 years.
