The 2019-2020 academic year deadline for applications is 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2019.

The Nebraska Broadcasters Association Foundation offers college scholarships to assist students enrolled in radio and/or television broadcasting or broadcast journalism educational programs at colleges, universities or technical colleges in Nebraska. Students meeting our requirements are encouraged to submit their application by the stated deadline. The minimum scholarship awarded is $2,500, from a total annual pool of up to $25,000. The number of scholarships and total dollar amount awarded each year is at the discretion of the NBA Foundation Board of Directors based on application quality and quantity.

NBA Foundation Scholarships: $2,500.00
Dick Palmquist Scholarships: $3,500.00
Marty Riemenschneider Scholarships: $5,000.00

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have completed at least one half of their degree or graduation requirements in a broadcast or broadcast journalism course of study at a public or private college, university or technical college in Nebraska. The following schools have been designated as eligible by the NBA Foundation Board:

Central Community College – Hastings
University of Nebraska – Lincoln
Doane University – Crete
University of Nebraska – Omaha
Northeast Community College – Norfolk
Wayne State College – Wayne
University of Nebraska – Kearney

Applicants must be planning a career that will use radio and/or television broadcasting or broadcast journalism skills, ideally in a broadcast station environment. This includes engineering, news, programming, sales and other common departments. Applicants must also demonstrate superior academic performance, high integrity, and a solid understanding of their personal and professional responsibilities.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
In addition to meeting the eligibility requirements outlined above:

-complete and submit the NBA Foundation Scholarship application form
-provide their most recent official transcript, showing GPA and courses completed
-provide two, one-page letters of recommendation from school faculty and/or from a radio or television station where they have been employed or served as an intern
-submit a link to an audio or video sample of their relevant coursework, not to exceed 3 minutes
-this submission may demonstrate their work in a non-talent role if applicable (engineer, sales, etc.)
-write and provide an original essay that answers the following question: What do local radio or television stations need to do within the next five years to remain relevant to their audiences, communities and advertisers?
-essay submission must be double-spaced on a word type document, not to exceed 1,000 words
-finalists may be asked to participate in a personal interview
