Web & Design Intern - UNL Office of Global Strategies/Dept. of Sociology (Lincoln, NE)

Faculty member Dr. Lory Dance in the Department of Sociology is seeking an intern with experience in web development and design work to promote two iterations of a global virtual exchange symposium between Nebraska, Sweden and potentially Japan. This role includes creating a website for the symposium, along with occasional digital and print promotional materials.

Preferred candidates would have experience with HTML coding and building a webpage. This is not required, however, as a page could also be built out using Adobe Spark or another template of applicant’s preference, such as Squarespace.

Initial pay for creation of the website would be a stipend of $200 over the winter break. Additional pay via a stipend would be provided and agreed upon each semester for website maintenance and creation of promotional materials.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
> Dr. Dance is seeking a candidate who will remain at UNL until at least May 2021 and will be able to maintain the website over the next year and occasionally create promotional materials each semester for the two symposia.
> Candidates should have proven experience with web design, either with HTML coding or other web interfaces such as Adobe Spark, Squarespace, etc.
> Candidates should also have proven graphic design ability, preferably with Adobe InDesign, but other platforms such as Canva are also acceptable.
> Access to your own digital design platform and tools is also required for this role.
> All candidates should have strong communication and time management skills.

IDEAL CANDIDATES:
This position is ideal for someone skilled in design and web work looking for a simple way to build their portfolio and earn some money over the winter break and upcoming year. The ideal candidate will also have an interest in learning about and understanding cross national dynamics. Hours are extremely flexible as long as important deadlines are met—which will be made known quite far in advance.
