KOLN/KGIN-TV is accepting applications for a full-time Content Producer in the Lincoln News Department.
The Content Producer is involved in more than just a daily newscast. 1011 News produces and airs at least eight different newscasts serving three target areas in Nebraska. 1011 also has three local feature programs. We are always looking for more ways to grow and expand local content.
A content producer must follow local and national news on a daily basis. They must have the urge to be first and accurate with news coverage and have working knowledge of new media.
Duties include, but are not limited to: The Content Producer duties include building the show rundown, writing stories and editing video. The Producer needs to work with reporters to enhance story presentation. During the newscast, the producer will be in the booth and serve as the center point of communication between the director, anchor and reporters. The producer will assist in posting stories and video to the webchannel with a 'web first' mindset. Posting engaging content to the station's social media sites is also a requirement. There will be times that the producer is also expected to shoot video. The producer is responsible for making sure the most important and most relevant stories are in the newscast and may need to assign reporters to breaking news stories.
Qualifications include: media-related bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience in journalism; understanding of what makes a compelling and engaging newscast; know-how to put together an informative and visually-appealing graphic; ability to edit video to script, write and report accurately and creatively under deadline pressure; and has the ability to juggle communication between anchors, reporters in the field and the production team.
She/He must maintain a permanent residence within 30 minutes of station and meet physical requirements of the position. A valid driver's license is required. She/He must have a flexible schedule and be open to working weekends or overnights.
