General assignment reporter
The Columbus Telegram is seeking a full-time, multi-skilled journalist. The ideal candidate will be able to report, write, photograph and perhaps do some desk work. Online and video skills valued.
Experience is desired, but talented newcomers will receive full consideration. A journalism degree is preferred, but internships or work experience could substitute.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or for someone to move from the weekly world to a daily.
Mastery of AP style is important. Reporting skills should include news and features. We want a generalist who embraces local news, wants to meet people and tell their stories, and has a passion for journalism.
The Telegram is a Monday-Friday p.m. and Sunday a.m. in a cohesive community of about 22,000 people. The state's major cities of Lincoln and Omaha are within easy driving distance if a taste of the urban is desired. Spanish language skills would be considered a major plus. Preference given to regional candidates.
