Content Producer/Video Journalist, KOLN/KGIN-TV

Those who have worked in a newsroom professionally or through an internship are the ideal candidates whether they are looking to stay on the producer career path or need more experience in a newsroom before transitioning to reporting.
Producers working in the Lincoln Newsroom will work with anchors in their writing and building of shows involving newscasts viewed across the state. Those newscasts combined serve three target areas in Nebraska.

A content producer must follow local and national news on a daily basis. They must have the urge to be first and accurate with news coverage and have working knowledge of new media. (Example: Producers must use skype or google plus on a regular basis to communicate with other news personnel in other newsrooms.) Current producers have had opportunities to report on-air and shoot stories when needed.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
The Content Producer duties include building the show rundown, writing stories and editing video. The Producer needs to work with reporters to enhance story presentation. During the newscast, the producer will be in the booth and serve as the center point of communication between the director, anchor and reporters. They need to already be a multi-tasks oriented person who will develop in building not just newscasts but building top stories and coordinating live coverage. The producer will assist in posting stories and video to the webchannel with a 'web first' mindset. Posting engaging content to the station's social media sites is also a requirement.

Qualifications include:
Media-related bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience in journalism; know-how to put together an informative and visually-appealing graphic; ability to edit video to script, write and report accurately and creatively under deadline pressure; and has the ability to juggle communication between anchors, reporters in the field and the production team. She/He must maintain a permanent residence within 30 minutes of station and meet physical requirements of the position. A valid driver's license is required. She/He must have a flexible schedule and be open to working weekends or overnights.
