Advocacy Intern, AARP Nebraska

Work closely with AARP Nebraska Associate Director for Advocacy in supporting state legislative activities and program such as caregiving, long-term care and Alzheimer’s. Develop in-depth knowledge and compile information and research on AARP priority issues. Assist with event planning and management. Assist in volunteer communication, such as providing guidance to volunteers.

Qualifications include:
• Currently enrolled as a student working on an undergraduate degree in social work, gerontology, political science, liberal arts, journalism or communications. Will consider all degrees and work-related experience.
• Must be an undergraduate, junior or senior.
• Minimum GPA: 3.0
• Able to work business hours, part time 15 or more hours weekly.
• Experience conducting online research. Computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and online search tools.
• Able to commit to AARP Nebraska September 2015 through May 31, 2016.
