Design and produce graphic materials for Gray Television and supporting properties. Under the direction of the Gray Graphics Team, the Associate Graphic Artist will provide regular graphics support and assistance to stations and fellow Hub Artists.
The Associate Graphic Artist will assist in the building and troubleshooting of station graphics packages, provide design support services for special station projects, sweeps report graphics, and various elements and animations for stations. The Associate Graphic Artist will be working primarily, but not exclusively, with Chyron Hego and the VizRt suite of products. You will have fixed working hours. We will coordinate your office to work from a Gray station located closest to you. We have station locations in 28 states.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Create and maintain multiple consistent, effective graphic package options for Gray stations that support all facets of broadcast and print, including news, public service and promotion.
2. Troubleshoot and diagnose production and playback issues of VizRt elements and graphics packages.
3. Design and creation of logos for stations or for Gray as assigned.
4. Possess general knowledge of all facets of production, including the ability to effectively communicate specific production graphics requirements to those assigned Gray stations.
5. Work with the stations’ News Director and Producers to provide graphic support for news production when needed, including significant breaking news elements.
6. Guide, encourage, and train members of station’s production team in the use of Viz templates.
7. Lead Gray in maintaining the highest quality standards in graphic presentation
8. Maintain a backup workflow and archive of graphics created for quick retrieval and recovery.
9. Keep current on the latest industry standards and equipment will assist with software decisions regarding graphic systems, and other computers within Creative Services.
10. Assist with set design, duratrans and other print collateral when requested
11. Support all Gray stations in their graphics needs
Qualifications: Education - College degree or equivalent job experience in computer art/graphic design.
Experience: 1-2 years’ experience with VizRt graphic design software and/or Chyron design and Adobe Creative Suite of design software, primarily focused in the use of After Effects and Photoshop. Operating knowledge of PC’s and graphics computers basic organizational filing skills.
