Marketing and Annual Campaigns Intern, University of Nebraska Foundation

Brief summary:
The marketing and annual campaigns intern assists the department by posting and maintaining content on both the intranet and internet websites; assisting in designing and creating basic web content including layout and image optimization; assisting with the preparation of large direct marketing campaigns and daily mail. This includes folding and stuffing direct mail pieces and putting postage on daily and departmental mail. It will also include research projects as they pertain to campaigns and projects. In addition to these core job duties, the intern is available to assist all members of the department with various projects and assignments.

Principal Duties:
• Assist in posting and maintaining content on foundation web properties and social media channels including posts, feature articles, press releases, landing pages, fund information and other marketing materials.
• Help prepare direct marketing campaigns, as needed or requested.
• Help prepare mailings as needed or requested. This includes assisting in processing daily Phonathon letters.
• Help conduct database research, as needed or requested; intern will receive specific Raiser’s Edge database training.
• Assist in producing e-mail marketing pieces including informational, event driven or solicitation based messaging.
• Manage the department’s interactive media index of stories and topics in past online publications.

Secondary Duties:
• Help publish articles to the organization’s websites, as needed or requested; intern will receive specific website content management system (CMS) training.
• Help transcribe interviews, as needed or required.
• Help with clerical duties, as needed or requested, such as copying, organizing, file management, deliveries and more.
• Help serve as the organization’s backup front desk receptionist, as needed or requested, by answering and directing incoming phone calls and greeting guests; intern will receive specific training on the phone system and receptionist protocols.
• Help prepare the organization’s daily outgoing mail my metering and applying postage to letters and packages, as needed or requested; intern will receive specific mail training.

Job Requirements:
• Education: High school diploma and current enrollment at a school of higher education in Nebraska, with preference to the University of Nebraska.
• Minimum Experience: Light HTML and CSS experience preferred
• Specific skills:
o Basic knowledge of digital technology
o Detail-oriented with the ability to balance multiple projects and priorities.
o Ability to use word processing software and web publishing systems including Adobe Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Microsoft Word, Excel. PC environment.
o Excellent verbal communication skills
o Project management and time management skills and abilities
o Good writing skills and ability
