1011 News (KOLN) is accepting applications for an Anchor/Reporter for evening newscasts out of Lincoln, Nebraska. The anchor/reporter is expected to be a newsroom leader and help build and anchor 1011’s award-winning newscasts.
Duties include:
The select candidate will be part of our main team of news leaders in the Lincoln area. He/She is capable of getting out the door when breaking news happens, shoot his/her own content and look for their own special reports. He/She is also key to reporter development by reading and editing scripts, along with helping the producer by finding more information on stories to advance in the evening. Then, come show time, he/she is expected to present the news calmly and clearly in a live capacity. Duties also include online news stories that are professionally complete and compelling, appear at promotional functions, operate news equipment in a safe, professional manner, support news promotion, contribute regularly to news coverage across the state for more than one station and perform duties as assigned. He/she must excel at interacting with viewers on individual's professional social media pages as well as station's social media pages with the goal of driving people to content on our news app.
Qualifications include:
On-air experience for a professional news station is a must. A college degree or equivalent job experience in a journalism related field, leadership skill, exceptional news judgment and professional knowledge of news operations are required, along with ability to communicate live on-screen in a professional manner, for all of our media channels. The ability to type and operate newsroom computers and other news gathering equipment in an above average capacity, excellent people skills when dealing with co-workers and the public, a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record are requirements. Position would require permanent residence in Lincoln, Nebraska.
