Social and Digital Media Intern - Midwest Hop Producers (Plattsmouth, NE)

Our vision is to introduce hop farming and processing as a viable business in Nebraska and the Midwest region. Our mission is to establish a well-managed hop enterprise that provides farmers with a high-value crop, produced on small acreages within a system that returns the majority of the crop value back to the grower and provides high quality pelletized and leaf hops to everyone from craft brewers to home brewers while maximizing environmental stewardship through sustainable practices.

Our goals include:
-Expand Hop Yard acres
-Build a Hop Processing Facility
-Develop a cost effective and efficient harvester for use by small hop producers.
-Develop one or more new hop varieties that are conducive to the Midwest growing region within seven to twelve years.
-Build hops knowledge and expertise with Nebraska extension offices.
-Create public benefit through the development of new job opportunities in rural areas
-Facilitating personal relationships and direct communication between Nebraska Craft Brewers Guild and Midwest Hop Producers and Allied Growers.

Job Description:
The Social and Digital Media Intern will play an active role in the ongoing development of Midwest Hop Producers and The Hop Yard - online community. The intern will maintain the company’s presence on various social media platforms and help create and publish content that is relevant to our customer base. He or she will regularly analyze and report on the activity on social media networks as well as the companies’ website.

He or she will also assist in maintaining archives of digital images, videos, and other content. The intern will promote events or programs through the internet and gain experience in social media platforms and the tools used to assess their performance.

Social Media Responsibilities
-Online outreach and promotion using Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and more
-Contribute to website update project (ensure employee profiles are accurate and up to date)
-Assist with streamlining company social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms) ensuring uniform content and tone of voice for landing pages, graphics, and other elements within the communities.
-Grows MHP and THY online social networks by increasing fan base and interactions.
-Posts updates, news and announcements in a timely manner using appropriate content.
-Performs research to find articles, stories, resources, or other content that is relevant to our
customer base and posts it to our Facebook and Twitter page in a manner that invites
conversation and interaction.
-Updates Facebook and Twitter accounts with current and relevant photos, video, or other
content from companies’ activities and events.
-Completes other social media projects as assigned.

Digital Media Responsibilities:
-Takes pictures and videos of training events to be developed into content for the MHP/THY
website, Facebook and Twitter pages.
-Uploads MHP and THY photos and videos to the appropriate server or Drop Box account.
-Completes other digital media projects as assigned.
-Help to create one piece of video content per month and post on You Tube

Research/Analytics/Reporting Responsibilities:
-Regularly observes the online activity of model organizations researches and reports on “social media best practices”.
-Completes other research projects as assigned.
-Uses Google Analytics to assess trends and activity on the MHP/THY website.
-Uses Facebook Insights to assess trends and activity on the MHP/THY Facebook page.
-Uses Twitter Analytics to assess trends and activity on the MHP/THY Twitter page.
-Reviews data on the performance of social media platforms and adjusts plans or strategies to optimize reach.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-High motivation level. Creative self-starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration.
-Excellent attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills.
-Experience with Microsoft applications, basic photo-editing and video‐editing software, and
internet browsers. Experience with Photoshop, WIX, Word Press and InDesign a plus.
-Familiarity and facility with mainstream social media platforms.
-The ability to work collaboratively with all staff

Minimum Qualifications:
-Working towards a degree/taking courses related to digital marketing, social media and content marketing, digital consumer behavior, web analytics and online marketing, etc.
-Minimum age of 18 years.
