Demetria Stephens, of Jennings, Kan., has had one of her photos selected for an exhibit at the Rotunda Gallery in the Nebraska Union. “Crossing the Rubicon: a UNL Art League Juried Show” is on display through Friday, Dec. 2.

A reception will be held at the Rotunda Gallery today from 5 to 6 p.m. It is free and open to the public.

Stephens’ photo, “Dust Settling vs. Rising,” placed first in the High Plains Art Fest in 2010.

Stephens studied for two years at Colby Community College where she was named to the president’s Honor Roll. She transferred to UNL when she was a junior and is studying journalism. She is a member of the UNL Photo Club.

Stephens has experience as a self-employed artist and editor, and held an internship for the entrepreneurship director at Colby Community College. She is currently a member of the board of directors for the Organic Crop Improvement Association, International Inc.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Art League sponsors the juried exhibit as part of its biannual gallery showing to bring student artwork to the greater university population. All entries were juried by Michael Burton, MFA, UNL.
