Barney McCoy will report for NET News at 6:30 a.m., 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2. McCoy traveled to the Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge in northwestern Missouri to witness the fall migration of hundreds of thousands of snow ducks through the Great Plains.
The Missouri River Basin is one of the big stopping places for geese making the migration from Canada down to the Gulf. The refuge, created during the Depression by President Roosevelt’s economic recovery plan called the Civilian Conservation Corps, put unemployed Americans back to work and preserved and restored the natural habitat.
For those who live in Lincoln the report will air on KUCV, 91.1 FM. NET’s radio stream can be accessed through your Android phone, Real Player or iTunes from http://www.netnebraska.org/radio/listen_live2.htm.
