Help MSM make an impact by donating your cap and gown!

Want to take a small step and have a big impact? Want to help the environment? Want to help future graduates from the college? Want to be a part of a future scholarship fund?

Cap/gowns are expensive for students, get used once and are made of a synthetic polyester that won't break down easily in a landfill somewhere. So in the interest of promoting environmental responsibility and economic frugality - and saving everyone a little closet space - the Multicultural Students in Media group at the UNL College of Journalism and Mass Communications is starting a cap/gown rental library for future graduating students.

Here's the deal:
1. Donate your cap and gown to the group - it's not like you're going to do anything else with it anyway.
2. Give us your name and e-mail address so you can be attached to the future scholarship/cause as part of the Class of 2011 and be updated about future scholarship winners. (There will be signup sheets at drop-off times/places.)
3. Next year, journalism students can pay $20 to rent a cap/gown (instead of paying the $50 new). After graduation, they can get $10 back, and the other $10 goes toward helping students pay membership fees for national media diversity organizations and/or a scholarship for an underclassman journalism student (or students, depending on the amount of money raised) through MSM.
4. Hopefully this program continues and grows to provide more memberships and scholarships to more students, while saving graduates time and closet space.

And YOU can be a part of the beginning of it all!
