KOLN/KGIN-TV is seeking applicants for a full-time Sports Reporter / Anchor / Videographer in our Lincoln Newsroom. The Sports Reporter/Anchor/Videographer has the general responsibilities of covering stories as a reporter and/or videographer and anchoring assigned sportscasts.
Duties include: Covering sports stories in line with the sports philosophy of the station as assigned by the Sports Director. Write, produce, edit and anchor assigned sports segments. Cover stories, either sports or news, in the capacity of reporter, videographer, or reporter/videographer. Edit videotape. Operate videography equipment in a manner necessary for quality video news presentations; including setup and installation, operation and tear down. Serve as announcer for the broadcast of live sports events; including play-by-play or commentary. Web site duties include entering stories, recording and video streaming stories as instructed by supervisors. Contribute to the idea pool from which sports or news assignments are made. Maintain contacts within the sports community to better cover local sports stores. Perform any other functions relative to the quality of sports or news presentations assigned by the News Director.
Qualifications: College degree in journalism, related field, or equivalent job experience. Ability to operate videography equipment. Knowledge of sports journalism ethics, slander, and libel laws.
Full-time hours are variable. Applicants must be willing to work weekends, early mornings and evenings as required. Applicants are further expected to reside within 30 minutes of the station. Full-time employment includes all currently offered company benefits at time of hire.
