Nebraska Extension and UNL’s Office of Emergency Preparedness and Planning encourages county Extension offices and Extension units to have plans in place for disasters and emergencies. Emergency action plans (EAP) outline the procedures and information staff can use in the event of an emergency. This includes office location, contact information, sheltering-in place, evacuation procedures and more.
*Current submission window:
September 1 – October 31 for Zones 2, 3, and 6.
*NOTE: If your office or unit has not submitted an updated EAP yet this year, please submit those by October 31. To submit an EAP and any additional documents, use the upload submission form: https://go.unl.edu/countyofficeeap
Save the Date - Creating Your EAP Office Hours is Thursday, September 8, 10 a.m. CDT/9 a.m. MDT. During office hours, we’ll review an example EAP and the process for submitting your plan. This is also a great time to ask questions. A Zoom link will be sent out to Zones 2, 3, and 6.
Resources to Help are on the web! The 2022 EAP template, examples, and instructions for submission are available on the https://disaster.unl.edu website. You will need to be logged in to access these files through the Employee Resources portal (under the About Us navigation tab).
While offices/units are asked to submit an EAP on an annual basis for our organizational records, these emergency plans should be updated continually as the need arises (i.e. someone retires/resigns, someone new joins the office, change of office location, etc.).
If you have any questions, please let me know. I look forward to working with you all as we continue working on these plans.
