2022 National Preparedness Month Theme: A Lasting Legacy

National Preparedness Month
National Preparedness Month

National Preparedness Month is an observance each September to raise awareness about the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies that could happen at any time. The 2022 theme is A Lasting Legacy - The life you’ve built is worth protecting. Prepare for disasters to create a lasting legacy for you and your family.

Visit https://ready.gov for social media graphics and toolkits designed to promote preparedness month and encourage families, communities, businesses, and organizations to prepare for emergencies.

In recognition of September being National Preparedness Month, Nebraska Extension and Nebraska Emergency Management Agency have partnered to create a Disaster Preparedness Challenge. From now until September 30, our offices are encouraged to submit their disaster preparedness kits as part of a friendly competition. Resources shared during the challenge can also be used to promote preparedness at home, work, and school.
