As we head into fall, don’t forget that the National Weather Service (NWS) has a free forecasting service to assist you with your planning and risk assessments. It is better to be proactive and have alternate plans in place, than reacting to hazardous weather conditions.
Make a request. Contact the Warning Coordination Meteorologist (WCM) at your local NWS office. The WCM provides you with the link to a simple online form to request a forecast. Be sure to plan ahead so forecasters can research the forecast for your event(s).
Gary Stone shared this example of a recent forecast he requested for the 2023 Panhandle Agriculture Research Technology Tour in Scottsbluff. With the information provided by NWS, Gary and the team could plan ahead for high temperatures and possible thunderstorms.
