Since 2004, the President of the United States and Congress have declared the month of October to be Cybersecurity Awareness Month, a dedicated month for the public and private sectors, and tribal communities to work together to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity.
There are four simple steps you can take to step up your own cybersecurity:
• Use strong passwords and a password manager.
• Turn on multifactor authentication to help protect your online accounts.
• Recognize and report phishing: Phishing emails, texts, and calls are the number one way data gets compromised according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
• Update software on your devices.
