There are a couple of great opportunities available for anyone interested in Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). These free training programs help community members build practical skills in first aid, fire safety, search and rescue, and neighborhood response.

Grand Island/Hall County CERT Training:
St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Grand Island is hosting a free CERT Basic Training course. The course runs 20 hours over several evenings and includes both classroom learning and hands on practice.

Details:
• Adults and Teens Invited
• Tuesday and Thursday evenings
• April 14 through May 5
• 6 to 9 p.m.
• Location: St. Leo’s Church, 2410 S Blaine St, Grand Island, NE 68801

If you’re in the Grand Island area and have been interested in CERT, this is a great opportunity to get involved. Teens are welcome at the Grand Island training, so feel free to pass this along to families and local networks.

Participants will learn basic skills that include first aid, fire safety, search and rescue, and how to work effectively as a neighborhood team. Both CERT and Teen CERT can play an important role in supporting local emergency response plans.
