Add Entrepreneurship To Your Programming!

Wanting to add some entrepreneurship to your extension programming? If so, you need to know the essentials of direct marketing and using online marketing strategies for businesses to reach a targeted audience.

As part of a Sustainable Agriculture Research and Extension (SARE) professional development grant, you have the unique opportunity to attend a two-day workshop, November 2 & 3 in Lincoln on "Direct Marketing of Food Specialty Products". The workshop is the final aspect of a three-part series focused on agricultural value-added marketing. You will be joining a group of colleagues from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, Iowa State University, and South Dakota State University as well as other service providers from Nebraska representing United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development, Nebraska Department of Economic Development, Center for Rural Affairs, and others.

Glenn Muskie, North Dakota State University Extension, and our own Extension Educators Connie Hancock, Jenny Nixon and Jay Jenkins will present this "train-the-trainer" session focusing on ways to help small business owners evaluate the role of technology in their business, examine the strategies necessary to begin the process of dealing with the technology and weigh out some cost /benefit measures. If the business is already involved in using technology, ideas of how to evolve the existing use of information technology to meet changing business priorities or market demands will be explored. The program will showcase all types of technology that connect and communicate sellers with buyers.

Limited scholarship dollars (covering registration/materials, lunch on the first day, lodging and travel) are available on a first come, first serve basis.

To register, please email Penny Marsh pmarsh4@unl.edu no later than August 26th with:
