The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UNL is offering a "Nebraska Agricultural Diversity" tour, Sept. 12-16. The deadline to register is Aug. 26.
The tour will include stops to learn about: irrigated corn and soybean production in York and Grand Island; crop and livestock production at the West Central Research and Extension Center; the Golden Spike Tower and Union Pacific's Bailey Railyard in North Platte; the Kingsley Dam visitors center at Lake McConaughey in Ogallala; Chimney Rock; the Panhandle Research and Development Center in Scottsbluff; the Gudmundsen Sandhills Laboratory in Whitman; bison production at Ted Turner's Spike Box Ranch; the Nebraska Public Power District wind farm and a feed yard near Ainsworth; Ashfall Fossil Beds State Historical Park, and the Haskell Field Station in Concord.
Cost for the round-trip motor coach tour is $695 for double occupancy and $895 for single occupancy. Cost includes all motel accommodations, all meals (except one lunch) and driver tips.
