Professor Anna Shavers has been appointed the College of Law’s first Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion, effective July 1, 2018. In this role, Shavers has a variety of responsibilities, including, but not limited to, chairing the College’s Committee on Diversity and Inclusion; leading faculty and staff discussions on diversity, inclusion, unconscious bias, and professionalism; working with the Admissions Office to develop a plan for recruiting new law students from diverse backgrounds, particularly those with backgrounds that are underrepresented at the College of Law; and developing programming for College of Law students related to cultural competency, empathy, seeing the world through the eyes of others, and the importance of forming an inclusive community. Shavers also will be an important part of the College’s administrative team and be involved in the team's everyday decision-making on a variety of issues.
