“Humanitarian Intervention in Syria: Is It Legal under International Law?”
Presented by Professor Brian D. Lepard
In his talk Professor Lepard will examine the history of military intervention to protect human rights victims, drawing on the case studies in his book, “Rethinking Humanitarian Intervention.” In light of this history, he will review arguments for and against the legality under international law of unilateral air strikes by the U.S. against Syria in response to its recent use of chemical weapons against its own civilian population.
