The 2015 Equal Justice Works Fellowship application cycle began last week. You may access the application here and it must be submitted no later than September 17th at 5:00 p.m. EDT.
Creating a successful fellowship application takes time and thought and a willingness to use all of your resources! EJW tries to assist applicants by providing information on sponsorship preferences on topic area and location.
2015 Equal Justice Works Fellowship Sponsor Preferences
EJW indicates that they have sponsors who will consider top-quality projects in locations all across the country addressing the full range of civil legal issues faced by low-income and other vulnerable populations. But, there are certain geographic and subject areas in which they expect particularly strong sponsor interest. These are listed here.
Geographic Areas: Atlanta; Boston; California (Central Valley, Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Bay Area); Chicago; Florida; Minnesota (Twin Cities); New Jersey (especially Newark); Ohio; Texas; and Washington, D.C .
Issue Areas: Veterans’ Rights; Immigration, Human Trafficking; Healthcare and Medical-Legal Partnerships; Children’s Rights and Education; Consumer Protection; and Mortgage Fraud
In addition, there will almost certainly be funding available for fellowships hosted at the following organizations:

General Information about 2015 Equal Justice Works Fellowships
Information about the application process may be found in the application guide. All applications will be judged according to the impact of the proposed project and quality of the host organization and the individual candidate, taking into consideration other factors such as adequacy of supervisor, innovation of the project, groundwork laid, and sustainability of the project. Interviews will be conducted nationwide throughout the fall and winter, and offers will be extended on a rolling basis.

Throughout the application cycle, EJW is hosting special webinars to offer tips on submitting a successful application. The next webinar will be Wednesday, July 16 at 2 p.m. EDT and will include a *bonus* webinar discussing medical-legal partnership projects.

•Webinar: Creating a Successful Application for an Equal Justice Works Fellowship
We will cover how to prepare and complete a successful application. This presentation is intended for law students and recent graduates interested in pursuing a public interest legal career, as well as law school professionals who advise students on fellowship and other public interest career opportunities.
•Bonus Webinar: Building a Successful Medical Legal Partnership Project
Ellen Lawton of the National Center for Medical-Legal Partnership at GWU's Department of Health Policy will offer suggestions and resources for engaging healthcare partners, understanding the legal and healthcare landscape, and building sustainable strategies into your project.
