The Honorable David M. Ebel, Senior Judge United States Court of Appeals, Tenth Circuit will present this year's Cline Williams Jurist-in-Residence Lecture titled "The Times They Area A Changing - and so is the Fourth Amendment". The lecture will take place at noon on Tuesday, March 31, in the Hamann Auditorium.
The Honorable David M. Ebel currently serves as a Senior Judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He has an active appellate court caseload and also regularly conducts trials at the District Court level. Judge Ebel was nominated for the bench by President Ronald Reagan in 1987 and confirmed by the Senate in 1988.
Judge Ebel was born in Wichita, Kansas and received his B.A. from Northwestern University in 1962. Three years later, he received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. While at Michigan, he was the Editor-in-Chief of the Michigan Law Review.
After graduating from law school, Judge Ebel served as a law clerk for Justice Byron White on the Supreme Court of the United States. Subsequently, Judge Ebel entered private practice and ultimately became the Managing Partner at Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP in Denver, Colorado before joining the judiciary. He also has been an adjunct professor at the University of Denver Law School and a senior lecturing fellow at Duke University Law School.
