Join the Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska for a webinar on Forensic Issues and Civil Commitment presented by Dr. Mario Scalora, director of the Public Policy Center and professor of psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Forensic Issues (November 9, 12pm CDT)
Participants will be able to:
• Describe in detail the areas of overlap between
behavioral health and legal systems that are commonly
encountered by clinicians.
• Define the different areas of forensic behavioral health
such as competency to stand trial and insanity as defined
within the state of Nebraska
• Describe strategies for avoiding problematic engagement when clientele are involved in legal situations.

Civil Commitment (November 9, 1pm CDT)
Participants will be able to:
• Articulate the legal standard for civil commitment in state of Nebraska
• Describe the pros and cons of using protective custody
as an intervention strategy
• Detail a risk assessment strategy necessary to facilitate a
civil commitment when appropriate
