Recommended Resources: Black History
February is Black History or African American History Month and Charlene Maxey-Harris, Associate Dean of Libraries and Interim Chair of Discovery & Resource Management for the Libraries, recommends several archival resources, including African American Periodicals and Afro-Americana Imprints, that have been added to the collection in recent years. Check out the trial Gale Diversity resources through March 31st, 2022.
Other favorite resources include:
• Black Studies Center–current scholarly journal articles, dissertations, essays
• African American Communities–primary sources that focus on African American life in cities St. Louis, Atlanta, Chicago, and North Carolina
• Ethnic Newswatch–newspapers and magazines from the ethnic and minority presses
• Slavery, Abolition, and Social Justice primary sources–newest resource from Adam Matthew
Enjoy exploring these recommendations.
