Whether dedicated joggers or just making the trip from the parking lot to the store, we are all pedestrians. October is dedicated to promoting pedestrian safety. In Nebraska, the number of pedestrian crashes has been decreasing since 2017. FHWA has positioned October as a month to work to keep driving the number of pedestrian crashes downward.

FHWA has provided resources for local agencies who want to evaluate the safety of pedestrian facilities, select countermeasures for safer facilities, or promote safe walking strategies for the public. October is an excellent time to give pedestrian safety a little extra emphasis.
