Greetings from the MINK Local Roads Conference in St. Joseph, MO. If you are not here, no worries! Nebraska LTAP has you covered! Nicole has posted all of the presentations on our website. Lots of interesting stuff! The opening session was an update on Federal funding from NACE. Kevan let us know what is happening in Washington DC regarding highway funding reauthorization and possible new infrastructure funding. It’s kind of heavy, but feel free to check that one out. Attendees were treated to some new and cutting edge ideas such as using epoxy injections on bridge decks, using HD polyurethane to modify subgrades, and a study of the durability of high early strength concrete. All of those presentations are on our website if you are interested. In addition, the Lancaster County, Nebraska engineering interns gave us an overview of their project to document the condition of all of their county roads using video surveys. Very useful documentation for post-disaster recovery funding. We also learned about the history, as well as the current state, of Kansas’s local bridge improvement program that is funded by the state, and a comprehensive program in a Kansas county for crash investigation and documentation, which seems like a great way to reduce liability and identify high risk road locations. Kansas LTAP helped us understand how to better manage conflict, and Iowa LTAP gave us the results of their study to determine the retroreflective performance and in-service lifespan of sign sheeting. Again, all of these presentations, along with contact information for each of the presenters, are available on our website. Let me know if you have questions!

For a similar fast-paced, multi-state event focused on local road systems, join us in Sioux Falls in a couple of weeks for Local Roads!
