Job Posting: Franklin County Highway Superintendent

The Franklin County Board of Supervisors is looking for a full-time County Highway Superintendent. Must be a dependable self-starter, calm under pressure, be able to manage a large team of employees and large workload, and work well with others and the public. Must have a good driving record and must be able to obtain at minimum a Class B Highway Superintendent License in the State of Nebraska within eighteen (18) months from the date of hire and be willing to work towards a Class A License. Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time and be able to lift up to 50 lbs at a time. Work will include management and supervision of all County Highway Department employees and management of the overall administration and direction of road operations, including the maintenance and repair of roads, bridges, and related facilities, the maintenance of vehicles and equipment, snow and ice removal, and tree and brush removal; planning, designing and implementation of maintenance and construction procedures of all county roads, bridges and county highway structures; budgeting; coordinating safety meetings, performing duties on an on-call basis as needed; attending workshops/meetings as required; and a variety of tasks related to the successful operation of the County Highway Department.
