SAVE THE DATES: UCARE INFORMATION SESSIONS
Monday, November 11th, 3:30-4:30pm, NE Union, City Campus
Monday, December 2nd, 12:15-1:15pm, NE Union, City Campus

The UCARE program allows students to work one-on-one with a faculty mentor to gain research experience and related skills. The program can enhance applications to graduate school and better prepare students for a career.
· Participants receive an annual stipend of $2,400. UCARE is open to students in all majors and disciplines.
· Upcoming application information sessions introduce students to the UCARE program and provide guidance on finding a project, approaching a prospective mentor, and writing an application proposal. The sessions are for funding in summer 2020 and the 2020-21 academic year.

BUILDING YOUR CAREER: ALT-AC, PUBLISHING, FELLOWSHIPS, AND FULBRIGHTS
Monday, November 4th, 12pm, Bailey Library, 2nd floor Andrews Hall
· UNL alum Dr. Tracy Prince, professor at Portland State University’s American Indian Teacher Program in the College of Education, will talk about the things she wished she knew in grad school: hints on academic publishing, trade publishing, writing op-eds, alternatives to academic careers, alternative paths to an academic career, and fellowships, residencies, and Fulbrights.

3-2-1 QUICK PITCH COMPETITION
Tuesday, November 5th, 5pm, Morrill Hall
· The 3-2-1 Quick Pitch Competition is an annual event where you can showcase your entrepreneurial, communication and presentation skills through a short “quick pitch” proposal for a new business venture.
· Competitors will have 3 minutes 2 pitch 1 idea.
· A panel of entrepreneurial-minded experts from across Nebraska judge proposals and provide students with valuable feedback.
· Students also have the opportunity to develop their ideas, network with other students, successful entrepreneurs and community leaders.
· Cash prizes awarded to the top three pitches in each of the seven groups.
· All undergraduate and graduate students are invited to participate (Apply by Oct. 29th)

RED TALK: PRESENTING UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH AND CREATIVE ACTIVITIES TO THE CAMPUS COMMUNITY

· Come out for our undergraduate research presentation free-for-all! Nebraska’s take on a TED Talk, hear undergraduate students present on their research and creative activities in short, 8-minute interactive sessions.
· Learn about the exciting work taking place at Nebraska and get ideas on improving your own research presentations.

· Join TRIO/SSS and University Career Services for a conversation with first-generation alumni sharing their stories and advice on how to navigate college and beyond.

INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP RETREAT AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS (November 10th)
· Inclusive Leadership Retreats are designed to help students think deeply about how to lead inclusively and to take on leadership roles — in the classroom, in university clubs or organizations, and in their communities.
· Students who participate in this retreat are prepared to apply for university leadership positions, including peer mentors and consultants, RSO positions, NSE leaders, resident assistants, and college and research ambassadors. Participants are also certified to serve as facilitators for Husker Dialogues, a campus event for first-year students held each fall.
