Advising Updates

Hello Math Majors,

The last couple of weeks have been quiet for me in terms of getting to meet with all of you. I know that you have been working through your first midterm exams in many classes, so I understand if your overall academics and goals have not been the most important thing for you recently. I hope that your exams went well and that the first third of the semester has gone smoothly.

Now is the time to start planning for your Summer 2020 and Fall 2020 classes if you have not already done so. The Summer 2020 semester class schedule is already viewable on MyRed now, and the Fall 2020 semester class schedule will be viewable on MyRed starting on Monday, March 2. Unfortunately, this does not mean that the class schedule for the Summer 2020 and Fall 2020 semesters is completely set. Summer 2020 semester enrollment opens on Monday, March 2, and it is an open enrollment period for everyone. If you are planning to take a popular online class this summer, you are going to need to enroll in that course as soon as possible starting on Monday, March 2. Priority Enrollment for the Fall 2020 semester will start on Monday, March 30, which is the Monday after Spring Break. This means that the following students will have access to enroll in Fall 2020 classes on the following dates:

- Seniors: March 30, March 31, April 1, and after
- Juniors: April 2, April 3, April 6, and after
- Sophomores: April 7, April 8, April 9, and after
- Freshmen: April 10, April 13, April 14, and after
- Everyone: April 15 and After

Your Priority Enrollment date is set by your class standing, and your specific date and time is randomly assigned within your class's dates above. Class standing is not determined by the amount of time at UNL or the amount of time in College. It is determined by the number of credit hours that you have completed as follows:

- Freshmen Standing: 0 - 26 Credit hours
- Sophomore Standing: 27 - 52 Credit Hours
- Junior Standing: 53 - 88 Credit Hours
- Senior Standing: 89+ Credit Hours

I will expand my walk-in advising hours and limit my appointments to 30 minutes during the Priority Enrollment time period, but it is much better for you to beat the rush by scheduling an appointment before Spring Break. If you have any additional questions about how Priority Enrollment works, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. Remember, you cannot enroll in any future classes if you have ANY holds on your MyRed account, so please check this and contact me with any questions that you have.

@huskers.unl.edu Email Address

Starting this past summer, ALL University email messages are going to your @huskers.unl.edu email address regardless of your email preferences on MyRed. You MUST check your @huskers.unl.edu email address regularly to stay up-to-date with important announcements from the University. If you would like more information about this change, please visit https://its.unl.edu/helpcenter/student-email-migration/ and review the current student tab of information. All students will be expected to be reviewing their @huskers.unl.edu email address, so if you miss an important piece of information sent to this email, you will still be held responsible for it. If you know your fellow classmates haven't switched over to using their @huskers.unl.edu email address, PLEASE give them this information.

Thanks,
Doug
