NSF Summer REU Programs

Each summer, the National Science Foundation (NSF) provides funding to colleges and universities to host Research Experiences for Undergraduate (REU) students. These experiences typically center on a specific research idea or topic and award students a financial stipend for participation. In addition, many colleges are able to cover the cost of housing during the experience, transportation to and from the REU site, and include additional outside experiences.

The research experience is usually with faculty and graduate students who are currently teaching, researching, and studying at the college or university. Thus, students get to know what a potential graduate program might look like in additional getting involved in an unique research experience.
