Support National Collegiate Recovery Day on April 15

The Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC) continues to grow and expand at Nebraska. What started as weekly recovery meetings in Husker Hall is planned to expand into a living environment this fall.

In celebration of National Collegiate Recovery Day on April 15, you’re invited to wear purple and get involved in supporting the CRC. The CRC will host a picnic on the Cather-Pound Greenspace at 6 p.m., where purple bandanas and free burritos will be available. Attendees will watch a video with messages of support from campus leaders and preview information about the new residential community for Fall 2021.

"Recovery doesn't need to be any more difficult than it already is and that is why we are here to lend a hand to anyone in need of our support," says Jon Haag, a founding member of the CRC.

Meetings and gatherings are an essential opportunity for students in recovery or considering recovery to express themselves and learn from others. Meetings provide a wealth of information regarding tactics to maintain sobriety and self-improvement. In addition to meetings, the residential location will serve as the main hub for CRC activities and provide a safe and welcoming ecosystem of well-being.

CRC organizers are confident that the weekly meetings, social activities, and events will foster an environment dedicated to academics, self-improvement and recovery. As the weather improves, the community will establish a Friday evening event where students can gather from 8 to 10 p.m. for food, conversation and games at Husker Hall. Anyone interested in recovery or considering recovery is encouraged to attend.
