Hello Math Majors,
I hope you are enjoying the last day of fall break and getting ready for the second half of the fall semester. There are a lot of events going on with this short week before Priority Registration begins, and as such, the newsletter is packed very full.
As I have started previously, Priority Registration is the time period during each fall and spring semester where you are given a specific time and date to enroll in the next spring or fall semester. Priority Registration will start on Monday, October 25, and the registration dates have been assigned as follows:
1. Graduate Students - Monday, October 25 to Wednesday, October 27
2. Seniors (89 credit hours or more) - Monday, October 25 to Wednesday, October 27
3. Juniors (53-88 credit hours) - Thursday, October 28 to Monday, November 1
4. Sophomores (27-52 credit hours) - Tuesday, November 2 to Thursday, November 4
5. Freshmen (0-26 credit hours) - Friday, November 5 to Tuesday, November 9
Within each class level appointment times are distributed randomly each term from earliest to latest with no appointment times assigned over the weekend. After your Priority Registration appointment time, you can enroll in classes or change your class schedule anytime prior to spring or fall semester classes starting. Wednesday, November 10 starts the Open Registration period for the Spring 2022 semester.
Let's discuss getting ready for Priority Registration for the Spring 2022 semester. Priority Registration is the time period every fall and spring semester where every student is given a specific time and date to enroll in classes for the next fall or spring semester. Registration dates or "appointments" are determined randomly by class level as outlined here. Registration dates are posted to MyRed, which happened on Monday, October 4th. At the same time that registration dates are posted, everyone is able to see tentative schedule of classes for the next fall or spring semester. Thus, you can now view a tentative schedule of classes for the Spring 2022 semester.
Since a class schedule is now available, you should have access to all of the tools and information that you need to plan out classes for the Spring 2022 semester. The Degree Audit and the Degree Planner should help you determine the requirements that you have left to complete your degree and which courses it would be best to take next. If you have questions or concerns about particular courses or course prerequisites, you can always review the information on the Undergraduate Catalog. Lastly, the Enrollment Scheduler will help you build a schedule based on the classes that you would like to take for the Spring 2022 semester.
The nice feature of these tools is that they all sync together in various ways. The Degree Audit feeds information into the Degree Planner to help you determine the requirements that you have and have not completed, and the Degree Planner feeds your planned future courses into the Degree Audit to confirm that you are meeting your remaining requirements. The Degree Planner also feeds your planned courses into the Enrollment Scheduler to help you start the process of planning courses for your next semester. Leveraging these programs and how they share information can make choosing and enrolling in classes much easier. The Undergraduate Catalog and our webpage about ACE Courses can also help you fill in any gaps in the information available through the Degree Audit, the Degree Planner, and the Enrollment Scheduler. Two additional things to review would be any Holds and To-Do Items listed on MyRed. Holds will prevent you from using your Priority Registration date if they are not resolved, and To-Do Items can turn into Holds if they are ignored. I would be happy to help if you have a Hold or a To-Do Item that you do not understand, and I know that there are times that this things can be confusing.
