Become a Teaching Assistant (TA) with The Coding School
Seeking mentors to train the next generation of responsible AI leaders!

Are you a current undergraduate or graduate student studying computer science, machine learning (ML), or data science? Are you passionate about expanding STEM education access to underrepresented communities? Join The Coding School’s team of TAs to bring ML education to hundreds of high school students across the U.S. this Fall!

The Coding School is seeking passionate and enthusiastic teaching assistants (TAs) to support our two-semester Introduction to Machine Learning course for high school students. Offered virtually with live instruction, the course will bring together 300+ high school students from around the country who will gain real-world AI and ML skills, hear from AI experts in academia and industry, and join a community of future responsible AI leaders.

Position Summary:
TAs are key players in teaching and mentoring our students to become responsible future leaders in AI. Each week, students participate in a 1-hour lab section with a TA. Labs are a time for students to ask questions about lecture or homework content they didn’t understand, learn new material that builds off of lecture, and practice their coding.

All TA positions are virtual. On a weekly basis, TAs are required to lead two, 1-hour lab sections for high school students. Additionally, TAs will be required to attend a weekly TA meeting to go over curriculum for the upcoming week.

TAs will receive a $120 weekly stipend with approximately 4-5 hours of commitment weekly.

Our ideal applicants:
- Are committed to our mission to support students from all backgrounds, especially those historically underrepresented in STEM;
- Have taken at least one machine learning or data science course;
- Have experience in teaching or tutoring students and are comfortable explaining complex concepts at a high school level;
- Are authorized to work in the United States throughout the duration of the course. International students should consult their International Student Services Office to ensure their eligibility.

Required skills/experience:
- Comfort with introductory ML and data science, including coding in Python (required).
- Experience in ML including university courses, research, or industry experience (preferred);
- At least 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience (does not need to be ML related) (preferred);
- Commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the STEM fields (required);
- Final candidates for the job may be required to pass a background check (possibly including fingerprinting).
