Bares Career Perspectives in Mathematics Lecture by Kamran Malik

Undergraduate students are also invited to have lunch with Mr. Malik on Friday, April 26th from 12-1:30 pm in the Avery third floor lounge (Room 348), featuring food from the Oven. You should feel free to come for any portion of the 12-1:30 pm lunch period.

Description: Kamran Malik has been an actuary for almost 28 years, helping Fortune 500 insurance companies with healthcare insurance product design and business strategy consulting. He holds a BS in Mathematics from UNL, and he is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. For the past 12 years, he has also shared his passion of photography with Central Florida clients as a commercial photographer.

Mr. Malik is a Leadership Tampa Bay and a Leadership Pinellas Alumni and has had the privilege to serve on the board of Leadership Pinellas in the recent past. In addition, he is a graduate of FBI Tampa Citizen’s Academy class of 2023 and was recently appointed by the Florida Supreme Court to serve as a public (non-attorney) member on Florida Board of Bar Examiners.

He will share his journey, which started as a freshman at UNL as an international student, and which includes his education in mathematics, his career as an actuary, his transition into entrepreneurship, and his fiduciary responsibilities as a leader in the State of Florida.
