Join the Learning and Development Research (LADR) Group!
Are you interested in the development of children's self-regulation skills and motivation? The LADR Group is hiring motivated undergraduate students to serve as volunteer research assistants starting in Fall 2024. We are particularly looking for first and second-year students with an interest in building research and statistical skills and a passion for contributing to a collaborative team.
What You Will Do
As a research assistant, you will be part of a dynamic, supportive community dedicated to advancing our understanding of child development. You’ll engage in various aspects of the research process, including literature reviews, data entry, analysis, and video coding. You may also have the opportunity to present at academic conferences and contribute to academic publications. Currently, the lab is focusing on data coding and analysis projects, as we are not collecting new data at this time. Tasks and projects will be assigned based on the lab’s needs, your skills, and your interests.
Opportunities for Growth
Undergraduate RAs are expected to commit 8 hours per week, including a 1-hour lab meeting, for a minimum of 2 semesters. This is a volunteer position, though many students receive course credit and experiential learning credit for their work in the lab. We foster a collaborative environment, and we work with students to find funding opportunities through the FYRE, UCARE, and Ronald E. McNair programs. Students who have been with the lab for at least a year can also undertake thesis projects. Many of our alumni have pursued advanced degrees in psychology, speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, and medical school. For more information about our alumni, visit our Alumni page.
Who Should Apply
No prior research experience is needed—many of our RAs are new to research. We are looking for curious, hard-working, and detail-oriented students who are enthusiastic about child development, eager to apply their analytical skills, and excited to be part of a collaborative team dedicated to making a difference.
How to Apply
To apply, please complete this Google Form that will ask you to share more information about your interests, career goals, and upload copies of your resume/CV and an unofficial transcript. All interested students are encouraged to visit the LADR Group website to learn more about our work.
