National Science Foundation Funded Research Traineeship

The College of Science and Mathematics at Auburn University is pleased to announce that they are accepting applications for the National Science Foundation Funded Research Traineeship Program on Climate Resilience for the Fall 2022 semester.

They are seeking students who:
- Desire to possess the skills in an array of scientific careers
- Want to engage with interdisciplinary research in a transformative graduate program
- Are interested in conducting research relating to climate change resilience
- Want an internship with top stakeholders that need their help
- Desire to increase communities’ resilience to climate change

This NRT program aims to:
- Train scientists and leaders to build resilient communities that can effectively prepare and respond to damaging hazard events in the southeastern United States
- Support MS and Ph.D. students conducting research within an integrated and multidisciplinary framework
- Help students better understand, predict, and communicate the resilience of natural, social, and built environmental systems.

NRT Trainees will be required to:
- Complete coursework (up to 15hrs/PhD; 9hrs/MS), attend workshops, participate in a 5-day immersion experience, complete program evaluations, attend project meetings and public outreach events, an annual conference, and we have fun together too!
- Complete their degree program concurrently, as such their participation is expected throughout their degree enrollment.
- Either be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident to qualify for the funded positions.
- Meet all program expectations, whether funded or unfunded trainees

NRT Funded Trainees receive:
- A $34,000 stipend annually for up to two years
- Auburn's graduate out-of-state tuition fellowship and in-state tuition waived
- A portion of their student fees paid each semester while a funded participant
- Eligibility for financial support from their home department in lieu of NRT funding (all trainees, including unfunded)
